Here’s a bit of movie news that will set tongues wagging: Rooney Mara, fresh off her second Oscar nomination for her performance in Carol, will play the lead in Vox Lux, the “15-year odyssey” of a fictional pop star whose fame began in 1999. The film will follow her life and career as she negotiates seismic personal and cultural shifts in the new millennium…sound familiar? Best of all, Mara’s character “Celeste” will perform original music written by the one and only Sia.

The film will be directed by up-and-comer Brady Corbet and production begins in February. In the meantime, Sia is sure to pore through archives of half-finished and rejected songs to find perfect tracks for the project.
